How to install Ubuntu in computer or laptop || Install Linux operating system
Hi all
- Today I will teach you how to install Ubuntu in your laptop or Desktop.
- Install Ubuntu/linux along with Windows
- Install Ubuntu with different partition options
So friends in order to install Ubuntu you can watch the video in the description for any details or follow the steps as I explain. If you face any difficulty in installing Ubuntu or any questions regarding that, you can ask in this blog or you can comment on my youtube channel (video given below).
Downloading Ubuntu
- First of all you have to download image of Ubuntu (iso image). To do so, go to this link: Download Ubuntu and click on download button. Download Ubuntu 16.04.3 version or any other latest version
- Now You will see a page where it is written: Help shape the future of Ubuntu. Scroll down and you will see a payment option using paypal. Don't worry, you don't have to pay anything. On the left side there is option coming: Not now, take me to download. Click on that option and your download will start
- There is another option to download it. As you will see the file to download is quiet large so it is better to use Torrent download to download the file. Torrent download will help you pause and resume the download whenever you want. In order to download using torrent you have to go to this link: Download Ubuntu using torrent, this will appear like image shown above
- Click on Alternate downloads and torrents on the right side below download button. There will following options available to download:
- You can select any option to download but I suggest you to download most stable version. LTS version is most stable right now. So you have to download Ubuntu 16.04.3 Desktop (64 bit) version. You may select other options but it is better to select latest stable release. Click on the Ubuntu 16.04.3 and torrent file will be downloaded. click on the file to open it in any torrent downloaders such as utorrent. After download is complete you are ready to install Ubuntu in your computer or laptop
Installing Ubuntu
- In order to install Ubuntu you have to extract the download file in a pendrive or dvd drive. You can watch video given above in which I had demonstrated all. Remember to make the pendrive bootable. If you donot know how to boot pendrive, just comment on my youtube video, i will provide you link how to make pendrive bootable and copy ubuntu files in it.
- Restart your computer and then press f12 key again and again to boot pendrive. Different computers have different key such as f1,f2 or f8
- Once pendrive gets boot, you will something like this:
- Now select language which you want such as English on the left panel.
- You can select Try Ubuntu if you want to see how Ubuntu looks. Now click on Install Ubuntu. Now you will see something like this:
- Select install third party software option which will install required updates such as wifi drivers, usb drivers, lan drivers.
- You can select download updates while installing Ubuntu if you want.
- Click on continue
- Now you will see something like this:
- First option Install Ubuntu along side window boot manager will install Ubuntu along with windows operating system
- Erase disk and install Ubuntu will erase each and every data on your hard drive even if it is not in C drive. It will delete every data.
- You can select to encrypt Ubuntu installation which will encrypt your data. If you lost your computer somehow, then you dont have to worry that your private data will be stolen by someone. It will be password protected.
- Something else option is the one which will help you create partitions in your hard drive. It will create separate disk partitions for your hard drive. So if you want to create separate disks and install Ubuntu in some other drive, select this option.
- You can select any option you like but I usually select something else as it allows me to create separate partition (create c drive, d drive, e drive) and install Ubuntu in any one of them. After selecting something else you will see something like this:
- Select New Partition Table for creating new partition (new drive). Then you will see the free space available. Now select the + sign in the left size, a pop up will appear.
- Type the size you want to give in it as I have shown in my YouTube video. You can select Primary or Logical Partition. I prefer you to select primary partition for installing Ubuntu. Your extra space can be given Logical Partition. Always select beginning of the space option and Ext4 journaling file system.
- Select the mount point to / (root directory)
- If you want another drive then you can select /home mount point
- Now click on Install Now
- Click on continue
- Select your country and click on continue
- Now you will see something like this:
- Fill all the required information such as your name, username, password and confirm password. Select login automatically and click on continue.
- Now Ubuntu will start installing
- Click on restart
- Now login and enjoy
- If you face any difficulty or need any information then you can comment here or in my youtube video
